Checked against the Hypertension Canada primary care guideline (CMAJ 2025;197:E549); 2021 CCS Guidelines for the Management of Dyslipidemia (Can J Cardiol 2021;37:1129); Health Canada product monographs; checked 12-13 Oct 2026. Not affiliated with or endorsed by The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC).
Most items are applied: a patient profile with BP readings or lipids, and a question about what to start, change or monitor. Some ask about ACEI cough or angioedema, thiazide hyponatremia, CCB edema or NSAID interactions.
Measure with a validated device: seated, back supported, arm at heart level, 3 readings 1 minute apart.
Home monitoring for diagnosis: duplicate readings twice daily for a week.
White coat hypertension: high in the office, normal at home; masked hypertension is the reverse.
Lifestyle for everyone: sodium below 2 g/day, less alcohol, activity, potassium-rich diet if safe.
